I'm pretty flexible, and don't typically use blocks, but he... well, he uses them with some frequency. The foam blocks (typically from Gaiam) are inexpensive and so are propagated by yoga studios, however, they give very poor support, and don't feel at all secure to put your weight on. And the older and better-used they get, the more they give under you. So, I invested in these cork blocks as his valentine's day gift, and voila! Now we fight over who gets to use them! They're sturdy and solid, without being too heavy, and buying them through Amazon, the price was right; they cost a lot more on the Hugger Mugger website and other places. I highly recommend! 5 stars The following review received 10 helpful votes out of 10 total votes: Review Date: 2007-03-08 "nice" this block is nice and sturdy, but not too heavy. much better than the foam blocks i have used. 5 stars The following review received 8 helpful votes out of 8 total votes: Review Date: 2007-01-09 "It's great!" I am very happy with my cork block. It is a nice size and is heavy enough that it doesn't tip as easily when I use it to steady a pose. 5 stars The following review received 6 helpful votes out of 6 total votes: Review Date: 2007-06-24 "Safe and comfortable" Have used for a month - really helped my form and stretch. I have large hands so comfortable with the size and weight. 5 stars The following review received 6 helpful votes out of 6 total votes: Review Date: 2007-08-23 "My favorite blocks" These blocks are great for yoga. The cork is my favorite material - firm and solid like wood, but without hard edges and not slippery on a wood floor, like the best attributes of a foam block. The only drawback is that they are heavy; foam blocks are better if you're traveling with them and need to carry your bags. 5 stars | |
