The back of their invoice states that for defective items, contact the manufacturer, (MPI Outdoors at www.mpioutdoors.com) who did not respond. Finally got my money back through Amazon's A-Z Guarantee. The heating element is a thin brittle wire in front of the toes which can break easily due to normal handling or washing. 2 stars The following review received 3 helpful votes out of 4 total votes: Review Date: 2007-01-31 "Good but--BIG OL' BATTERIES!" This product is one of those items snowboarders/skiers wish for after a long, cold day on the slopes--and it works well; HOWEVER, the company clearly were in a hurry to get these heated socks to the market, because they're powered by the huge D-Size batteries! (1 per sock) C'mon guys, three or four AA's couldn't have worked? Of course, When your bundled and booted-up for the slopes, you may not notice...but then again...you might. 3 stars The following review received 3 helpful votes out of 3 total votes: Review Date: 2007-12-28 "NEW MPI Heat Sox Battery Powered Heated Socks " Recommend these socks - bought these for a friend and he says they work! We had tried another brand but they didn't work and we had to return them. These actually work and do NOT have all these wires that you have to deal with. These socks have SEPARATE battery packs and NO tangle of wires!! They also have a switch to adjust the heat setting (Hi/Lo). Even on high they don't get real hot! Recommend this seller! 5 stars The following review received 1 helpful votes out of 1 total votes: Review Date: 2008-01-04 "Brand new batteries...." Thought it was because of the batteries. So I went and bought some new ones and still didn't work. Wish I hadn't wasted my money, was really looking forward to them. Made a good dog chew toy though. 1 star The following review received 1 helpful votes out of 1 total votes: Review Date: 2008-02-08 "Worthless product" These socks did not heat up. One barely got warm- I had to press it hard with my finger- while it was on my foot- to convince myself it was a warmer temperature than when I started. The other one did nothing at all. I tried several brand new batteries and the socks simply did not work. And if they had worked? I'd be lugging aroud a big, fat D-cell battery on each leg. Is there some reason these can't be made to work with a 9-volt? Is there some reason these can't be made to work at all? It isn't that hard to do- you're just wiring a battery back to itself. It was a huge waste of $29 and the manufacturer never responded to me to set up an exchange. I wish Amazon didn't force me to give this product even one star. 1 star | |
