"Good Idea, bad execution"

I bought this to replace my Leatherman Wave. While it does work much better than my Leatherman it needs some fine tuning. The plier jaws don't touch there is a 1/8th inch gap. There is no wire cutter. The Crescent wrench is loose. The Driver holder is loose. The slip joint connection need to be rotated so that it doesn't lock up all the time.

Still it has a Crescent wrench which nothing else does. it uses standard driver bits giving it great versatility. It does not need a seperate bit holder like everything else does. the knife is an actual usefull knife unlike my leatherman which is more like a letter opener.

I will keep using it until spyderco corrects the flaws when i will get a new one. 4 stars

"Nice idea but needs improvement"

When I saw this I thought it looked very cool and when I bought it I was not disappointed. But, when I went to use it I found some flaws. 1. The jaws on the slip joint pliers are too rounded at the edges. They would work pretty good for nuts and bolts but I was unable to pull staples out of a 2x4 with them. 2. The pliers are also really awkward to use one handed. 3. The knife handle is very unsubstantial when separated from the other half of the tool so if you're having to bear down or do any heavy cutting you have to leave the unit together which would be ok except for 4. when using the knife the plier handles kept wanting to open. There is a mechanism in place to lock the unit closed (for putting it in your pocket and for using the knife blade) but it was unreliable. sometimes the tool would open while I was using the knife and sometimes the locking mechanism would jam and I couldn't get the unit to close fully. After using it for a couple of days I went back to carrying my Leatherman Wave. 3 stars

"Finest Tool"

This is the best tool I have ever bought. I've been carrying one religiously for the duration of my career in engineering. 5 stars

"Wow-factor tool, doesn't replace Leatherman Wave"

I got one immediately after seeing it in a blog. It's one of those tools that makes every guy go WOW! and ask to hold it. Great idea, but the company's lack of experience in building pocketable tools is fairly obvious. It's just not perfect, the way Leaterman tools are. There's a need of improvement here and there. Still, highly recommended. 4 stars
