"Electifying!"

Finally a Zapper with more voltage! Now I can really sizzle those mice. I was previously getting rid of them with the regular Zapper that only uses 4 AA batteries; I really felt it wasn't enough. I had to modify my current Zapper MacGuyver-style to use the electrical outlet in addition to a high-voltage amplifier, outputing well over 120-volts of pure lightning. You can tell when you've gotten a mouse because you here a slight crackling sound like those Pop Pop Snaps fireworks you buy on the 4th of July. Also a bit of smoke if you get there quick enough. It's not uncommon to have the Zapper tip over on it's side due to the mouse getting thrown against the walls of the Zapper - those mice don't know what hit them. Science rules! *cackling* 5 stars

"Finally, a better mousetrap!"

My family moved into our current house five years ago, and our first autumn here we discovered that our house was a quite popular Fall Resort in the mouse world. :(

In those five years, we've tried a large number of ways to stop this yearly invasion:

- Traditional Traps
They simply didn't work. Either the mouse could eat the bait without triggering the trap, or it would catch the mouse without killing it - which was pretty disgusting. I did find one type of traditional trap that worked, but then it was discontinued.

- Glue Traps
These were basically worthless. Mice would drag them to a new location, but then free themselves without too much trouble.

- Poison
This was a fun solution - I would go into my basement (where I work) and smell a week-dead mouse that I couldn't find.

- "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
One year I simply didn't bother to try to catch them; I was too exhausted from previous attempts. I figured as long as they stayed hidden, I would ignore their existence. This option didn't go over too well with the wife.

After all this frustration, I figured I would try the Rat Zapper. All I can say is: IT WORKS! I caught 6 mice in the first 48 hours I had it set up, and disposing of the mice and resetting the trap was clean and easy. Best of all, I can use this trap for years to come; it no longer has to be a yearly experiment to see how I can catch our rodent visitors. 5 stars

"it works but could be better designed"

i bought the ratzapper 2000, three of them. they immediately killed a mouse each, and as i emptied it, continued to do so over the next few days. i bought the optional battery pack thinking with some D batteries, it would be more powerful, kill more mice etc. the battery pack is clunky, is supposed to attach by velcro strips but they just don't hold, and i've secured the pack via rubber bands, but since i leave the units outdoors, the rubber bands eventually break in the sun. the product is quite good and quite effective -- i dread seeing the light blinking cause i know there's a disgusting dead rodent inside, yet i am glad it has caught the bugger! but the product could be better designed. i see they have the rat zapper ULTRA now, which is redesigned and looks like it has solved the issues, with a built in D-battery compartment. in home depot i saw a competing product, which had a red light to let you know the unit is on -- and a green blinking light to let you know it caught a mouse. i think some features like this would be good on the rat zapper. there have been some false alarms with the light blinking when the unit has been moist (again, it is outdoors...) so the design is not perfect but generally, it works good enough, and it a less disgusting way at least of catching a mouse / rat and killing it. i'm on amazon right now b/c i'm buying more so despite my criticisms and suggestions, it is a good product. i wish it was a touch less expensive tho! ;-) 4 stars

"Excellent rodent eliminator"

I too was a little skeptical. After reading very favorable reviews on Amazon on this model trap vs competing brands and styles, we decided to purchase this. We are very pleased. It works as stated and continues to work well. It works best aligned next to a wall. No more: disgusting glue traps (with live specimen) or snap traps or "humane" trap door boxes( with live mouse to greet you for relocation)or rat poison (and the fear of having one rot in a remote inaccessible corner) or "create the moat with peanut butter and water in a can-lure".
But seriously, what we truly like about this device is that it works. It kills the mice quickly and cleanly. There is no mess to pick up, just simply discard by sliding the contents out. It is easy to conceal the trap and the catch. It is a lot safer than many other products. It is easy to use and reuse. The light indicates when you have succeeded. It does not appear to lose its effectiveness over time. Yes, you pay for batteries typically after two kills, but I have not found a better rodent eliminator, particularly for those of us who find this task so unpleasant. 5 stars

"The literature claims within 24-48 hrs"

that you will catch your first mouse. We've had a mouse that we've been unable to kill for months. "Mousey," as we imaginatively nicknamed him, was all but responding to voice commands and would disappear for weeks on end when we got serious about mouseproofing our house. Finally, after his crossing over glue traps of all shapes and sizes, his eating mouse poison (to no effect) and his refusal to go into the dcon trap (despite our pleading), I broke down and got a rat zapper. 4 hours after its arrival, the rapper signaled mousey's demise; he was in the trap, on his back. Its a little quieter in the apt now without mousey, but we think its for the better. 5 stars
