"The best option for groceries."

These baskets are great. I have tried more expensive and lighter weight grocery panniers, but those don't hold as much weight or volume, and they are a pain because you have to take them into the store with you to avoid having them stolen off the bike. I use zip ties to attach the Wald baskets to my bike, because with the included hardware they tend to rattle. I carry a lot of groceries with these, including heavy things like beer, potatoes, and flour. I find they work best with paper grocery bags, but they also work quite well with reusable cloth grocery bags.

They do weigh quite a bit, though. 5.5 pounds may not sound like much but if you have to carry the bike up any stairs you might want to think about whether you'll be able to manage the weight. I use a steel Wald rack for mounting these, and that also adds a bit to the weight. 5 stars

"great for the city"

These baskets are great for running errands in the city! I commute by bicycle and I leave these on the bike all the time. I don't notice the weight, they don't get in the way, and most importantly, they don't scream "steal me" the way a set of panniers would. Folded open, they hold a LOT of stuff. As far as I can tell, they're solid and they'll hold more weight than I ever want to carry. I used zip ties in addition to the mounting hardware, and I've had no rattling issues.

Two cautions:
* The included mounting hardware uses regular nuts instead of nylocs or lock washers. Check them often or get some nylocs at the hardware store, because this is not a vibration friendly setup.
* Be sure to mount these far enough back that your heels don't hit them! On my bike, that means that they have to be about two inches farther back than they would be if I centered them on the rack. 5 stars

"Fantastic!"

I use these baskets ALL the time. They're amazing. I recommend, though, getting a few small bungee cords to help secure things so they dont jump out over the top of your baskets, but other than that, they're quite sturdy. They are a little bit difficult to secure to the back rack, but once done you'll wonder what you had ever done without them. 5 stars

"grocery baskets"

Have had these for around a year. Can load up about $70 worth of groceries (the cheap heavy food) with the optional wald front basket. The out side lower frame of basket is held up with a steel loop tab. With such a heavy load I put two small master locks on both inside and outside bottom frame edge bars for fail safe support. An alumium alloy rack won't do well with that weight, am going to try out the Wald steel rack soon with hardened bolts to frame. I use the Wald parts on a 1960's crusier, it is similar to a pickup truck. 4 stars

"A Bit of a kluge, but servicable"

These baskets are heavy and not too well designed. You take a risk if you put loose items in them as the sides flex out and can leave wide gaps for things to fall out. Holds a standard full size paper grocery bag nicely.

You have to mount them as far back on your cargo rack as possible or you risk kicking them as you pedal. The minimal instructions fail to mention this. The baskets are certainly durable and should last the life of the bike. Serviceable but not elegant. I would recommend the black ones. The silver ones are pretty garish and ugly looking. No problems with Niagra Cycle. 3 stars
