"Worth the money.."

I already knew what the knife was going to be like since I already own two other Swiss Army knives, but the LED flashlight surprised me. The flashlight is finely made, fits in a pocket or purse easily, and produces a great, bright white light.

My wife grabbed it away from me as soon as I showed her how it worked.

Both are top quality, Swiss manufactured items with a life time warranty.

This was really a good deal from Amazon. 5 stars

"This is a great deal. "

I had previously owned a solder knife from Victorinox and I lost it one night while out with a friend. But I stumbled upon this deal here and for a cheaper price then what Victorinox sells just the knife for on their website. As the previous knife served me well for many years I wanted to replace it, the flashlight turned out to be the real surprise.

I already knew that the knife was great, it holds an edge extremely well and you can almost get it razor sharp with a good stone. I have used this knife from cutting an apple to wire striping. But the flashlight once you figure out how it works is brilliant, not only as a piece of technology but it is truly brilliant in terms of illumination. I have used it to walk down my dark country road at midnight or later and motorists had no issues in seeing me.

Only knife you need and just about the only flashlight you will ever need. Almost as good as a Maglite, almost.

"My all time fav Swiss Army Knife"

I've carried Swiss Army Knives, off and on, since I was in the U.S. Army in the early 70's. The knives are well made and the blade alloy is easy to sharpen. I work the tools for a living and never has a Swiss Army knife broken on me. In recent years, I've been trying new & different knives with high performance alloys including 440C, ATS-34, ATS-55, and D2, CPM T420V, as well as damascus blades with good results. While these blade alloys are top notch, the Swiss Army Knives continues to be the best value for every day carries. Of the many varieties of S.A.K.s, the Army Soldier is the one I like the best. It strikes a balance between functionality, size and weight. I prefer the aluminum handle to the red plastic.

"Excellent First Swiss Army Knife!!!"

I've been wanting to get my first Swiss Army Knife for the past few months and just couldn't find a perfect minimalist pocket knife so I gave this a try. For the money and Amazon's pricing, you're getting a bargain and a high quality product. Fit and finish is absolutely excellent. A quick slash through paper and it went thru it like nothing so it's pretty sharp. Also there's no play(wobbling) on all the implements. And it snaps open and close with a nice forceful click to it...

As for the specs since they don't give that much info here or on victorinox's website. The knife closed is actually a little longer than 3.5", it's 3 5/8" if that matters much. The blade is 2.75" for those who need to compare with their local and state knife restrictions. Since the 4 implements protrude from one side a little bit, the actual width of the knife is 7/8" at its widest part when closed, but a little less than 3/4" wide when you're measuring the width of the alox scales(aluminum handles). The thickness of the vic soldier is a few hair's thick over 3/8". I don't have a small weighing scale but it's just about the same weight as a seiko diver's watch...

The one I got with the flashlight in the blister pack was an '06 model since some of you might wonder. 4 stars only because it's '06 stock and not enough info on the specs from Amazon or Victorinox.

update:
Price from Amazon almost doubled so I can't say the price is still a steal from the $14 to $15 a week ago.
I don't use this knife as an "every day carry" so it's been relegated to kitchen cutting, not really a replacement for the 8" chef's knife but as a sub for the other short ones. It does have can/bottle openers also, so why not let it be of service in the kitchen?
Well it does its job as good as the thin bladed kitchen knives but on the otherhand, I'm kinda mad at myself for treating it as one thru the dishwasher...All was fine, except now the three rivets and aluminum liner between the 2 layers of implements show discoloration like a slight yellowish color, not quite sure if it's rust :( But other than that, still clicks open/close nice, smooth, and with that good strong force. 4 stars
