I've found that waist packs make wonderful purses, provided you find the right one. Thus far this one is my favorite. I got the "Chipotle" colored one, which is a pleasant shade of orange. The lines, colors and embellishments make it look really stylish, but even better is its versatililty. It comes with 2 water bottles, but I use the side pockets for my phone, shopping lists, and other quick-deposit items instead. Inside is very roomy with two zipper compartments. I would have liked to have a pen holster somewhere inside, but that's minor. The padded handle makes it very comfortable to carry around, and it's even more convenient and comfortable to just strap it around your waist. Unless I have the water bottles filled and holstered, I don't even notice it's there. The pack is extremely comfortable to wear. Now, if you need something that will carry pretty much what a medium size purse would carry, then this is the bag for you. If you're looking for something that's a more manageable (ie common) size in a fanny pack, this isn't it. The measurements are misleading, but don't get me wrong, it's a nice pack... just too big for me. 3 stars The following review received 4 helpful votes out of 4 total votes: Review Date: 2008-07-21 "Great pack" I was looking for a waist pack to use when I walk on the Breast Cancer 3-day 60 mile walk in September. I had another pack that I bought years ago and never used, but when training with it it didn't fit right. I wasn't sure about ordering a pack on line with out trying it on, but this one got pretty good reviews and it held two water bottles (which I wanted) and it wasn't too big but not to small. It's actually bigger than what I really needed. I wanted something I could easily pack my essentials in while bike riding as well as something I could use as a camera bag or carry bag while vacationing. I think it's great if your going to be out all day and need to easily carry your essentials, however it's just too big for short excursions. 4 stars The following review received 2 helpful votes out of 2 total votes: Review Date: 2008-08-13 "Satisfied Overall with High Sierra Ridgeline Lumbar Pack" After using the pack on a recent hike, I found the pack roomy and sturdy enough for a day hike. The water bottles were fine except that one of the bottles slipped out of the pocket even though I thought that it was strapped in properly. Now, I need another bottle to replace that one. As with most fanny packs, it tends to slip down some during walking, so I would suggest that the manufacturer include an over the shoulder strap arrangement to hold it up and help distribute some of the weight up to the shoulders. I would recommend it as a good buy. 4 stars | |
