"Great idea but cap doesn't fit well"

I recently purchased this bottle at a local health food store to replace my heavy glass bottles that I use for drinking water. Three negatives I've found with this bottle:

1) I've heard that stainless steel is as light as plastic but I haven't found this to be the case. Stainless is safer than glass where breakage is concerned but not lighter when filled with liquid.

2) The cap on the bottle is made of plastic and the inside threads of the bottle are stainless. Needless to say, they don't fit well together and so it leaks.

3) The cap has a carabiner attached which makes it awkward to turn. It would be much easier if the carabiner and ring were attached to the bottle rather than the cap.

Although stainless steel is an excellent alternative to plastic and safer than glass, I'm going to return this bottle and look for a different design. 3 stars

"Does Not Last"

I loved this water bottle when I first got it and I used it all the time. I was able to put it in my bag and I never worried about it leaking. However, after just three months of constant use, the bottle began to fall apart. The blue paint began to wear away, the cap no longer screws on (the stainless steel wore away a lot of the plastic), and the clip on the top of the bottle broke. If you need a leak-proof bottle that holds up with constant use, this is not the one for you. 1 star

"Nice idea, poor implementation "

I was very excited the first few weeks I had these bottles. They are relatively small, don't really leak and the lid is attached. In short, they are pretty much perfect for a kids lunch box, diaper bag, back pack, day bag.. whatever.

The shortcommings are in the plastic neck. Over time they will develop stress cracks. For me, this was after about a month. When this occurs, you must be extremely careful when tightening the lid or it will simply snap off. The first one to break was actually done by my 7 yr old, and my natural response was "how did you do that?", and of course assuming mis-use. Eventually I broke one with minimal force without even realizing it had cracks. After breaking the second, I discovered the cracks and found them present in all of the bottles. Color doesn't make a difference.

I have 3 boys, and wishing to have clean ones for lunches, I bought 14 hoping it was enough to make it through between washing cycles. It's been 2.5 months and only 2 remain.

I'm writing the review now as I'm back looking for something else and the search brought up these again. I felt compelled to comment about my experiences and frustrations with these bottles.

"Water Bottle"

The mouth of this bottle is small, so it is hard to clean the inside of it, but it does keep drinks cool. 3 stars

"Environmentally safe but not so safe for health"

Wanting to be more environmentally conscious and cut down on the plastic use, I had seen the environmentally friendly stainless steel water bottles on a tv program. I immediately searched amazon and found this product. The colors were attractive and the size was right. The clips for attaching them to bags made them extremely beneficial for travels. After dropping one, I found the bottom bulging and the tint color chipped off. Accounting that to my mishandling I tried to be more careful. While handwashing the bottles I found the color chipping off around the opening and bottle neck. How often is this color chipping off while drinking? All 3 bottles did this. I had to scrape off the tint that was chipping away anywhere near the opening due to possible ingestion of paint. The bottles are now unattractive and my health safety is questionable...but the environment is safer. Go with untinted bottles or find a product that knows how to create colorful bottles without the paint coming off when it comes in contact with the liquid it's made to hold. 2 stars
