"These are great bottles, even if they are a little big and sometimes noisy"

My wife and I both got one of these a few weeks ago to replace the plastic bottled water we are used to drinking from. We use it on the commute to and from work and at our desks at work. They are great. The water tastes as good or better (from our filtered fridge) than the bottled water did. My biggest beef is the bottle is a bit larger than a water bottle, and so although it still fits in my backpack, car cupholder, etc., it is tad bit more cumbersome in my hand. The previous reviewer noted that these bottles "chirp" like a bird, and they do. However, I found that if the air hole is straight "up" (closest to your nose) when you drink, and the water inside is not up against the hole, there is no chirping noise. It takes a bit of concentration/practice, but during a meeting last week I used the bottle several times in the space of an hour without any chirping. All in all, this is a well-made, great stainless steel bottle that we plan on using for many years to come. Finally, 26 oz is NOT a liter according to Google, who state that "1 liter = 33.8140226 US fluid ounces." But these bottles are still plenty big enough for our uses. 4 stars

"Too big for it's own good!"

Item description clearly states that it fits nicely in most water bottle cages. Don't believe it. I have tried it on 3 different bikes and it is way too big to fit on any of them. Nothing wrong with the quality, I have 2 other bottles made by the same company and am pleased with all of them. If you're looking for a bottle to carry on a bike you might want to consider something else. 2 stars

"Perfect Size"

I like this bottle. The size is perfect for my needs, and fits into my car's cup holder, and also my fanny packs water bottle pockets. It's the only stainless steel bottle I've found that fits right. The Klean Kanteen's are either too big or too small. I measured the diameter on the bottom with a dail caliper: 3.074". Perfect! I bought two. I am not planning on using it in my bikes, but I tried and it did not fit well - too big like the other reviewers have stated.

I also had a 1 liter Sigg (gave it away), and a 26 oz Klean Kanteen. I know, the KK should be 27 oz, but I measured it, and it's only 26 oz. The KK does fit well into my bike's cage. No taste issues with any of these bottles, including the Sigg. But the Sigg is made out of Aluminum, and even though it is coated, I'm not sure I trust the coating either.

Some of the reviewers here are saying this bottle is also much less than 1 liter, but mine is 1 liter or very close; definitely over 32 oz. Maybe they changed the design since previous reviews.

The stainless steel used seems slightly thinner than the KK. I can see how it would dent easily, so if you are throwing your bottle around a lot, it might not be a good choice. I've also heard that if you let water freeze in the bottle, it will bow out the bottom, making it so it won't stand up right.

The sports top has a hole with a little stopper in it to let air in while drinking. Mine does not chirp, but I can see how it could. I found that I could "adjust" the stopper to prevent air from going through at all, and I could adjust the stopper to allow for easy drinking. When set for easy drinking, it will leak lots of water if you turn it upside down. In the other setting, it will not spill at all. I may be using it as a screw top instead of a sports top, so I like the choice. Like the KK, this one has a rolled lip to allow for easy drinking right from the bottle. The opening is also pretty big, just like the KK, making it easier to clean. The Sigg has a much smaller opening.

"Good but..."

It loses 2 stars - 1 for performance and 1 for labeling.

According to my calculations, 26 oz, is NOT 1 Liter. 34 oz. is 1 Liter.

I love it, but it makes a funny noise when i drink because of the rubber stopper in the air hole. It makes a whistling sound like a bird chirping. My coworkers have commented on my chirping.

"Good, solid steel bottle, not perfect."

After reading a magazine article talking about the dangers of bottled water (apparently several brands have been found to contain live bacteria, for example) I decided to buy one of these things.
PROS:
Affordability--the Enviro is about the least expensive metal water bottle I have seen of this style.
Shape--the mouth of the bottle is wide enough to admit a decent-sized ice cube.
Material--this bottle is stainless steel rather than the commonly used aluminum. If you're considering this purchase to avoid the toxins that can leach from common water bottles, this is good to know.
Ease of use--yes, I know, it's a water bottle. Ease of use? What? This bottle includes a regular pop top nozzle like you'll find on biking water bottles. Much more convenient than unscrewing the cap when you want a drink. To add to that, it has a small one-way valve on the cap to allow for pressure equalization. You don't have to work against a vacuum when drinking out of this thing.

CONS:
Size--it is, I'm afraid, rather large. It's a 1-liter bottle, after all. It fits fine in the bottle holder on the side of my school pack, but for some people this might not be much help. Just be aware that it's about the size of a 1-liter soda bottle.
The screw cap--its fit in the threads is a bit looser than I'd like. I've never had the thing skip a thread, but until the cap is tightened, it does give the impression that it was made for a smaller bottle.

All in all, I've been very happy with this purchase. This item comes without frills, big brand names, or even paint--it's just a good solid drinking bottle that should last as long as the owner does. 4 stars
