"The Classic And Still The Best!"

Levi's 501 jeans are still the best in the world after all these years. The button fly is at times a bit inconvenient, but the fit of these jeans is worth it - there has never been a pair of jeans that fit a guy better than these. They are comfortable, yet not baggy, and are decidedly classic, without being stodgy.

In short, Levi's 501 jeans still set the bar for blue jeans, and to date nothing else comes close.

"Easy to buy"

While much of the negative commentary concerned Levi Strauss's move away from domestic manufacturing has focused on the button-fly 501s, the bigger problem I have seen is with the old 1970's standby, the 505, which has a zipper as opposed to button fly. The variability on sizing and sew quality with the 505s is an issue if you are going to buy them online or mail order. You really have to try them on to see how they fit. The 501 are much easier to buy online or by mail order because the sizing is much less critical on the waist, which is the so-called "anti-fit" waist, meaning there is no curve to the rise (the distance between the crotch and the top of the waist). basically, the 501s are pretty safe as far as sizing. 5 stars

"Still the best but not what they used to be.."

I've worn 501's for almost 40 years. They don't last as long as they used to but still fit and feel much the same. They used to have riveted seams (not good if you lean up against a car for example) and seemed to be made from a tougher grade of cotton. Sometime in the last 15 years or so, the durability has suffered somewhat. The rear and inseams wear more more quickly resulting in premature holes. I'm lucky to get 20 washes before the wear is such that they can't be modestly worn in public anymore. Back in the day, they would last for years of heavy use. Regardless, 501's are still the grand daddy classic jean of all time. They fit and feel like nothing else. 5 stars

"Nothing says "I'm not a nerd" more than a pair of these"

Levi button-downs are the most comfortable, COOL jeans in the known universe; James Dean wore 'em for cryin' out loud! Just don't blame the jeans for his poor driving record; no doubt he was wearing a pair of baggy khakis on his day of destiny, BUT I DIGRESS.

I've worn Levi's for all of my adult life and I've been pretty darn cool for a good percentage of said adult life.

So button-down and fly right, Kimosabe.

Peace,
Kaz 5 stars

"Best value for your money"

Are there any other jeans than these traditional Levi's 501? If you really want quality your choice would most certainly be a pair of 501 button flies. Don't waste your money on any other brand only for just checking out'em. You'll soon learn that nothing can beat the comfort and enjoyment of 501. 5 stars
