"Klean Kanteens Rock!"

I have used Klean Kanteens now for over 4 years and have been very happy with them. I compared them to SIGG, New Wave, uh hum, plastic Nalgenes and other polycarbonate water bottles and prefer them.

I got a few of these recently -
Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles: All Sizes, All Styles, Choose From Steel Caps or Poly Caps. Mix & Match!

They are very durable but can dent. I drove out of my driveway one day and my 40oz Klean Kanteen dropped onto the concrete - got a little dent but that is all.

My kids love the 12oz Sport bottles - they are 2 and 5yrs old. When they were smaller, they loved the 12oz Sippy. I prefer the 40oz when I go backpacking and the 27oz when Im drivin around town or at work.

I love 'em! 5 stars

"Annoying bar code sticker on cap"

Based on recent press we ordered these as a healthy replacement to plastic bottles. The manufacturer stupidly places bar code stickers on the cap area that comes in contact with your beverage. The sticker glue is difficult to remove. After furious scrubbing and washing we now have the pleasure of drinking clean water with a hint of sticker residue. 4 stars

"Excellent buy!"

I own 2 of these; after doing a lot of research I got the 40 Oz with flat cap (work) and 27 Oz with loop cap (gym). Both were quickly delivered and have lived up to what I expected. Easy to clean, no leeching and the water tastes great. I love the design especially for its simplicity (which some may not like). Love everything about this. Strongly recommended. 5 stars

"Great alternative to plastic"

I decided to get a stainless steel water bottle when I read some disturbing things about Lexan bottles - about how they leach chemicals into your water, etc.

I chose the Klean Kanteen stainless steel bottles because they don't have a liner (made of who knows what) inside them like their aluminum-bottle competitors. These bottles may not be as pretty, but I do feel they are a better choice. My water no longer tastes indefinably plastic-y - it just tastes like water. These clean easily with a long-handled bottle brush, and haven't dented or scratched much yet even with medium usage.

My only complaint about them is the lid. When they are correctly screwed on, it's pretty leakproof. But if you're not paying attention to what you're doing (all too easy to have happen), the lid can go on ever-so-slightly crookedly... and if it's put on its side, it will very slowly leak. You might not even notice at first, until it's made a mess. Unfortunately, that happened to me once, and it ruined the crossword book I had in my bag.

My suggestion: get these bottles, but don't rely on them to be completely leakproof, especially on their sides. But they are perfect for a side pocket in a bag or backpack, where you won't have to worry as much about a little leaking. And just be a bit careful when putting on the lid! 4 stars

"Great water bottle"

I've tried all sorts of reusable water bottles including high end plastic ones and Sigg. Klean Kanteen is my favorite though. I have the 27 oz, the 40 oz and my 5 year old has the 18 oz which he absolutely LOVES-he's a big water drinker. My husband just ordered the 18 oz for work too. We use the Sports cap with all of them.

Klean Kanteen bottles are extremely durable. They will ding if they are banged or dropped hard. But you won't sprout a leak. The Sports Cap is great. I never liked the caps on Sigg bottles. (Sigg's always seemed to release a little trickle of water and made an annoying sound.) I like the fact that the caps work on all sized bottles. It's extremely practical. When I bought my son's 18 oz bottle I also ordered extra Sports Caps; I like knowing that I can use them on any of our bottles. (Note: a previous reviewer mentioned that Klean Kanteen places the bar code sticker inside the cap. I agree this is a stupid place for it and I was really annoyed about it. However I've found that if you peel off as much sticker as possible, the rest of it rubs off fairly easily with olive oil or vegetable oil.) I'll also mention that they used to make the Sports Cap in white. I suspect that when they switched to black caps they might have made a design change because the old white caps used to occasionally leak, but I haven't had that problem with the new black ones.

But the thing that I really love about these bottles is that the opening isn't so small that it becomes difficult to clean them out. Sigg bottles have very narrow openings and are a pain to clean. Before you use the bottle for the first time wash it out several times and you won't have any metallic taste.

About the only thing that I felt Sigg has over Klean Kanteen are the pretty colors.

My only complaint is that there isn't much of a selection of insulated covers that fit my 40 oz bottle. During a visit to SeaWorld in Orlando I found a nice one with a shoulder strap in their gift shop. It was sold with a really crappy and cheap plastic drink bottle which I ditched-but my 40 oz Klean Kanteen fit perfectly! 5 stars
