"A good reliable watch with all the functions you need"

I would have prefered a Polar HRM monitor watch with a more simple storage, access and download of recorded data, but as price was an issue I went for the Timex. It works well and appears to have a good and reliable connection between the watch and the other components. I mostly only use the HR sensor strap which also is comfortable to wear both when jogging and when playing soccer. The GPS and data recorder widgets are fun but all I really need is the HRM function.

"Flawless design.... but flawed HR monitor"

I tried this product after having great success with Timex products in the past. After getting the watch and quickly learning the functions I was very excited. The HR monitor function worked great for a couple of weeks, however, after a short time it took the watch increasing amounts of time to find and display my Heart rate. After one recent work out, the watch did not find the signal from the monitor until my work out was over - it beeped to tell me I was below my target heart rate. I mean at least that function worked...right? OK, long story short - I had to replace the batteries in the monitor itself twice within a period of 2 weeks. I think I might have just gotten a dud, but I am not willing to try the product again. In my frustration I returned the item. Not recommended 1 star

"Excellent watch!"

Having used numerous HRM watches in the past, this is the best I've used thus far. It has everything you need, from automatic zone calculation to custom zones, to intervals, to lap timers, and it's GPS 3D compatible and shows your speed, distance, altitude, and even predicts your finish time.

I've had no problems with it at all. The signal is clear. As long as you keep the watch within 3 feet of the chest monitor, you won't have any problems.

I think the best feature of the Timex HRM watches though is that both the watch and chest monitor batteries are user-replaceable. It doesn't get any better than that.

If you're serious about getting into shape and like to track your progress over many activities in the day, I'd also recommend getting the Timex Bodylink Data Recorder II. Once you activate the watch and the chest monitor, the Recorder will also start recording signals from the chest monitor (and GPS too if you have). For martial arts practice, I'll activate the chest monitor via my watch, then take my watch off (can't use it during practice) and then activate the Recorder so that I can get accurate readings after my training.

Perhaps the only thing lacking might be a calorie counter, but I've found most calorie counters on HRM watches to be inaccurate.

Highly recommended watch! 5 stars

"Heart Sensor Doesn't Get Picked Up"

What a disappointment. I had the previous model of this Timex and it worked great, until I broke it on accident. I thought this would be better because it's a newer model. I disregarded the previous reviews and thought they must have gotten the bad batches. I tried it once I got it, and I couldn't get a heart beat for the whole entire time I worked out. 45-minutes of cardio is long enough to get some kind of reading. I lost my trust on Timex that day. Good thing I tested it right away, I was able to return it to Amazon, with no problems. 1 star

"Timex Ironman T5F001 Unisex 100-Lap Target Trainer Heart Rate Monitor Watch"

This watch is useful and convenient in most functions.
However, it does not calculate calorie!!!
Half of the people who buy this type of watch are for diet purpose which requires calorie calculation by training.
And I thought it is standard function for these watches, or I just do not know how to check it?
Anyway, if it is only training purpose, this is very inexpensive, good watch. 3 stars
