"This could one day save your life."

I have been in the U.S. Army for many years now and when it comes to compasses this is the only one that i will use. it is increadiblly acurate and extremly durable. the one i own (given to me by my father) i have dropped mine in the mud, sand, down the side of a hill (50 Foot drop) and mine still work perfect just as the day i bought it. for amature hikers i would recomend to us a GPS system and not rely on a compass. even for experianced hikers i recomend the GPS because using a compass is not usually an easy thing. Especially if you are lost. but as for this product if i was lost in the woods with out a GPS system i wouldnt want any other compass then this one. 5 stars

"this compas is of poor quality"

I bought this after reading the previous reviews. This compass was a disappointment at first sight. The needle barely moves, and it doesn't always point to the same 'north'- you can't really trust it with your life can you?

Also, the packaging was pretty lousy, as if it was opened ten times before.

"Excellent Compass for the price"

The compass was not expensive, but it has all of the features of a more expensive GI Lensatic Compass. It's a good buy and doesn't require batteries the way a GPS does. 4 stars

"Lensatic Military Marching Compass "

This is a very fine training instrument. It also would fit well in in a basic survival kit. Nothing Fancy ,it has a declination adjustment ,a good bearing line ,the fluid dampening is also very good. It dose not have luminous markings on it so you have to use a flashlight with it in the dark. I would have no problem navigating with it and a good chart (map). The shipping cost more than the compass. 5 stars
