"Great concept, but inaccurate pace info makes the ADEO useless"

The Motionlingo ADEO is a brilliant product that, unfortunately, simply does not work. I have tried three of them, two from Amazon and a third from Motionlingo, and they all seem to suffer from the same problem: incorrect pace calculation.

The concept of the ADEO is wonderful, and I found that during my training runs the device gave me updates exactly as expected, working well with my MP3 player all the while. So, what's the problem? Evidently the ADEO applies a faulty algorithm in calculating distance, pace and so on. For example, when I would run a 10-mile route known to be accurate, the ADEO would report the total distance at about 9 - 9 ½ miles. I could live with the incorrect distance, but of course the problem is that the pace/mile reported during the run is similarly under-measured. Runners in training know that there's a huge difference between a 7-minute mile and a 7 ½-minute mile - enough to utterly negate the value of the ADEO's feedback during the run if it isn't correct.

Motionlingo's technical support (reasonably good, via email) did offer that the ADEO's GPS performance can be affected by obstruction from trees, buildings, etc. This is to be expected in any small GPS appliance, no matter the brand. Unfortunately, the ADEO suffered its pace calculation problem whether used in an open corn field or down a tree-lined suburban street. Even with a 90% view of the sky, the distance and pace typically would be off by 5-10%, every single time.

I was very reluctant to reach this conclusion about the ADEO - as I stated above, I love everything else about this product. I would hope that the folks at MotionLingo are working the calculation problem and will release an ADEO 2.0 sometime soon. When that happens, I'll be first in line, but until then I recommend staying away from the ADEO.

"Love the trainer!"

I purchased this product for Christmas and have to say that although it cost me $150, it's a great product. I love the fact that I can listed to music while still using the Fitness Trainer. The software that is included with the Fitness Trainer is great. Not only does it calculate how many calories I burn, it tracks my pace rate and elevation along the way. The only problem is that it takes a little while for the Fitness Trainer to locate the GPS satellites, which is annoying when you are ready to go. For $150, I would expect the locating process to be quick.

Overall great product, keeps me in shape! 4 stars

"Great training aid!"

Motion Lingo has a definite winner in their GPS based ADEO. If you are even remotely interested in tracking and recording your workouts, whether they be biking, running, hiking, walking or what have you, you would benefit from this product. Individual sessions are recorded for upload to your computer for local or online storage and analysis.
The unit itself is small and lightweight, smaller than a video iPod. Setup and use is intuitive and you can customize many variables like time, distance and pace to fit your individual needs. The ADEO is voice driven with updates and other functions relayed to the user through headphones.
Great product, great training aid! 5 stars

"Great Idea But Device Not Very Accurate"

I like the idea of having audio alerts for distance, speed, calories, etc. when running. Unfortunately I found this device's GPS tracking unreliable and inaccurate. I ran a course of a known distance, and on several attempts using this device I got several different milage and speed results. In addition, my split times were all over the place. Also, viewing the maps on their website showed varied locations. Thus, while I like the idea, I would not recommend this device until their GPS issues are improved.

I have since tried a Garmin GPS device and found it to be very reliable. 2 stars
