And he does have a bigger than average kid's head. Nevertheless he loves the helmet and pads and won't go without them. 3 stars Review Date: 2009-01-06 "fits a 5 YO head!" We purchased this set mainly because it was sized for our son's small head. He is 5, but his head is only 20.5 inches. Most of the other helmets for his age are for 21.5 inches and up. This helmet fits him well with the padding and he still has room to grow. Plus, the price for the helmet and pads is about what you'd pay just for a helmet alone.
