"This will do for now"

Pros:
Air ventilation is truly excellent, fit is snug and comfortable, feels very light, the visor does not chatter in the wind, the helmet's design is fairly stylish.

Cons:
The straps often need to be pushed away from the back of my ears, the rubber part of "overmolded arm" on the RocLoc system inside the helmet interferes with the back tips of my glasses.

The helmet is used mainly for my daily commute. The RocLoc system makes the helmet fit well but at the expense of not being able to wear sunglasses comfortably. I wanted to try the Giro brand after I wore out my excellent Bell X-Ray helmet. When this Giro Hex wears out I will replace it with a new Bell X-Ray.

"Crashed it and it did it's job well..."

I'm sitting here having just ordered my second Gyro Hex helmet. I'm typing with a broken bone in my elbow and a cracked rib, but thankfully a fully intact skull...

Living in Seattle we have a certain amount of rain, this summer slightly less so. So a couple of weeks ago on my way into work I wasn't paying proper attention for a rainy Monday morning ride, hit a slippery patch on a corner at 15-20mph, my bike flipped and my 190lb self ended up plummeting head (and elbow) first into the asphalt...

I have never been so glad of a helmet in all of my life; it totally absorbed the impact (all be it by cracking into four parts, as expected). The actual structure of the helmet stayed together and gave my head all of the protection it needed as I slid along... The best 90 bucks I have spent all year

Initially I was going to buy a cheaper model as in 35 years of cycling I've never really had any need for the protection, but I'm glad that Matt black styling convinced me to pay the extra for a helmet which really did it's job...

As well as the protection, I found this helmet nice and cool and very comfortable to wear on a 16 mile daily commute (for the 6 months until I broke it...)

"Budget Zen"

I almost got Giro Zen. But the high price made me think twice. Then I came accross this Hex. It is not as perfect fit as Zen to me, but still comfortable. It has similar features as Zen, with a lot less price. It even has better looking then Zen in my opinion. Highly recommended if it fits you. 4 stars

"super light and comfortable"

First off the adjustment system Giro has ROCKS! The rear head adjust "Roc Loc" system is great, everything adjusts very eaisly and stays put. I had an older Giro that alway worked the ear buds to my iPod out, thats not a problem on this model. Very light, super ventilation, and looks slick. I've been very happy with this helmet. 5 stars

"We have a winner!"

It's nice to be able to find items like this at about half the retail price offered in most bicycle shops. After testing most helmets I found the HEX the most comfortable. I recommend this helmet over many more expensive models as it offers very adequate protection. It won't however save your ankle! 5 stars
